Statement

My practice is intuitive based on material exploration and the act of making. The choices of materials and processes, which could be labelled as ‘fetish’, are deeply seated in a working practice where ‘crafting’ the object produces knowledge about the material and it’s physical potential. Therefore, making cannot be separated from the end result. The processes used transform familiar or industrial materials into objects that belie their origins or their ‘value’. However, it is important that the end results have vestiges of beauty but not in the orthodox sense. I am aiming to achieve an uneasy beauty that incites curiosity.

With the fusion of masculine and feminine materials, and craft and industrial processes I attempt to subvert expectations by creating objects that pose questions regarding their origins either materially or functionally.
